Thank you to all who have supported BMX International and to all who are interested in our Alma Maters, St Xavier’s College, St Britto’s and St Marys School, Mapusa Goa, by coming together at planned reunions and other events.

These re-unions are an opportunity for all ex-students from the 3 institutions to meet up and renew acquaintances, socialise, party, laugh and recount past memories.

No doubt there are many of you who feel they wish to be encouraged, informed and motivated to do something to contribute in helping those less fortunate and needy in our Goan Society. It is our intention to build up sufficient funds to enable those in need to get back on their feet.

BMX UK is pleased to take over from our Canadian and Goan colleagues following their successful reunions and charitable drives in helping our joint cause.

We urge you to regularly visit this site and be kept informed about our reunion in Goa 2009 and our drive to build up funds in the course of our future charitable events.

Message from the UK Committee

It was encouraging to receive your many messages of support and interest in BMX UK hosting the next reunion in 2009.

The decision to have the reunion in Goa was not arrived at lightly.

The choice was made after much discussion and the BMX UK are now moving forward with enthusiasm to achieving a triumphant BMX meeting in Goa 2009 for different generations of Goans who were educated by our three institutions.

Thank you all for reassuring us that you will join us on the road leading to our beloved Goa around Easter 2009.

We definitely appreciate all who stand shoulder to shoulder with us. We have received many supportive messages of congratulations and encouragement from our worldwide alumni.

Our warmest wishes to all and see you in Goa next year.

Greetings to BMX'ers the world over

The last time we met collectively in Goa 2006, we accepted the mantle to be hosts for the next Reunion and nominated for it to be held in the year 2009.

It is now our pleasure to make an announcement with regard to the BMX - Reunion in an open invitation to all BMX'ers worldwide.

When it came to a choice of where we would meet, we had no hesitation in agreeing unanimously to return to the birthplace of the three institutions. Besides it being a place of natural beauty with a wonderful environment, it also evokes in us the passion of a magnetic appeal towards our roots. We are also responding to numerous appeals and to people we have spoken to in the past months who wanted us to reunite in Goa. Moreover, it was felt that by reuniting there, we would also be able to serve the greater bulk of our membership that presently resides there.

What we hope to achieve at the reunion is to continue the spirit of fellowship that has always prevailed, but nevertheless rekindled at the last two great events - the inaugural BMX - Toronto and the BMX-Goa under the inspiring leaderships of Joe Nunes and Eric Menezes respectively. This spirit has not gone unnoticed as it was observed to me by an attendee (BMX supporter) at the last reunion who remarked about the genuine warmth and affection among the BMX'ers. What else could be less, I told him when in the company of good friends of many years.

I am in an enviable position to have some of these good friends standing by my side to help take us through to the next reunion. In Patrick Gomes as Vice-President/Treasurer we have a great guy of fine integrity and a wonderful disposition.
Our Secretary is Astrid D'Souza who I am quite sure will not buckle down under the mammoth responsibility of the task ahead of us, but true to her character carry on regardless.
Another good friend is Richard Fernandes who has afforded me his comradeship over many years, is stout of heart and unflinching in his passion for the BMX. He will be responsible for Public Relations & Marketing and assisted by the affable personality of Jaime Rodrigues.
Some fine ladies make up our Editorial team, whom are extremely pleasant and well focussed and who will be an invaluable asset to have on board - Luiza Gomes, Ilona Fernandes, Liz Coutinho & Marilia D’Souza.
Looking after Sports & Leisure with two pairs of capable hands on the steering wheel are two outstanding guys Proto Carvalho and Rommel Coutinho.

And so fellow BMX'ers on behalf of BMX - UK, I invite you to the next BMX Reunion to be held at Easter time 2009 (Easter Sunday being 12th April) in our beloved Goa. We hope you will all support us. So start making plans whether you are in Kenya, Macao or wherever else to follow a route that will lead you there.

At the present time we are working on our website which will be released shortly giving you further details, information and photographs.

Warm Wishes to you all.

The Passion Flower

<

The Passion Flower depicts the Passion of Christ as described below.

The 10 sepals are the 10 apostles excluding Peter who denied Christ and Judas who betrayed Christ.

The filaments around the flower is the crown of thorns.

The 5 stamens are the 5 wounds of Christ.

The 3 antlers are the 3 nails on Christ on the cross.

The leaves are the soldiers hands (cannot be seen clearly on photograph but it has 5 sections on each leaf) and the tendrils are the whips they used on Christ.

The passion fruit is new life and with this depiction that I have in my garden, I would like to remind you of the love of Christ for us and this Easter would like to wish everyone new enlightened life with God‘s blessings.
